Breaking News: Police name road crash victim

Police have named the victim of a road accident this morning as 39-year-old Kirk Simons, of Sandys.

Mr Simons suffered fatal injuries after the motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a taxi on Harbour Road, in Paget, near the junction with Chapel Road around 1.45am today.

A?Police spokesman said:?“It appears that a taxi was exiting Newstead hotel and a motorcycle was traveling along Harbour Road when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 39-year-old Sandys man, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance; however he subsequently succumbed to his injuries. The taxi driver was not injured.”

Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to this collision to contact Inspector Phil Lewis on 295-0011.

In another incident yesterday at around 10.20am, Police attended a serious road accident on Parsons Road, in Pembroke, involving a motorcycle and a pedal cycle.

The spokesman said: “Details about the collision remain unclear; however the pedal cyclist, a 60-year-old man as well as the motorcycle rider, a 59-year-old Devonshire woman were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“At last check the 60-year-old man was in the Intensive Care Unit while the Devonshire woman was believed to be on a general ward at the hospital.”
