Graduates move up to the next level

Webster University graduates, faculty members, families and friends joined together at the Elbow Beach Hotel for a commencement ceremony on Saturday night.

Guest speaker, Education Minister, Paula Cox, congratulated the graduates and urged them to be a task force for change.

Thirteen students graduated at the ceremony - three with a Masters of Arts in Human Resources Management, one with a Masters of Arts in Management, and nine with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA).

Two awards were also presented: The award for Outstanding Student 2003 went to Michelle Scott, described by faculty members as a "consummate professional". The award for Outstanding Faculty Member 2003 went to Dr. Claudia White, described by students as "calming, knowledgeable and flexible".

The ceremony was filled with emotion, as close family members and friends were invited to the stage to place academic hoods on the graduates. Guests were also treated to a virtuoso saxophone performance by MBA graduate Wesley Hall. Wesley wrote the music specifically for the ceremony, and called it 'The Next Level'. Celebrations followed, as guests and graduates joined together and enjoyed a buffet overlooking the ocean.
