Netts end Bluebirds win streak

Data Tech Netts increased their lead at the top of the Senior Winter League standings after coming from behind to outgun defending champions Young Men’s Social Club Lady Bluebirds at Bernard Park at the weekend.Netts prevailed 44-33 in a see-saw battle to hand Lady Bluebirds their first league loss in more than a season and more importantly stretch their lead at the summit.Gina Benjamin led Netts’ charge with 34 points while Kimale Evans chipped in with 10 points.“The game was well fought as each team made dynamic rebounds, beautiful shots on goal and interceptions,” commented Netts’ Tanika White. “The game was a rollercoaster ride.”League leaders Netts remain unbeaten for the season.Second-placed Warwick Panthers also kept their unblemished record intact after getting past SS Tigers 56-29. Deborah DeShields poured in a game high 29 points and was assisted by Darrika Simons who added 27. Jahkenya Trott replied with 18 points for Tigers.Elsewhere, Robin Hood defeated SS Wariors 36-19 with Katie Brown leading the charge with 23 points and Abbie Caldas weighing in with 13.The final match-up saw Signworx Netts cruise to a comfortable 58-14 win over North Village Lady Rams Too. Danielle Onyia erupted for 41 points for Netts while T-Yanna Hayward replied with six points for Lady Rams Too.In Under-15 netball action, Netts White beat Netts Green 33-5 with Donnauri Robinson, Nia Dailey and Micah Pond each scoring 11 points while Keizhari Knight poured in 14 points to guide Young Men’s Social Club Bluebird Young’ uns to a 30-13 victory over North Village Lady Rams.In Under-12 play, Netts Black beat Devonshire Colts, North Village Lady Rams got past Devonshire Cougars Cubs while Young Men’s Social Club Baby Bluebirds prevailed against Netts Greens.
