their second straight wins as the limited-overs competition moves into its second week tomorrow.

The four favourites, plus Somerset, St. David's, Hamilton Parish and Cleveland, all had good wins in last weekend's season opener. Rec. and Bay in the Gold section should make it two wins in a row as they take on Flatts and Willow Cuts respectively, though Cuts could be a tough opponent for Bay at Sea Breeze Oval in one of the day's top matches.

Cuts lost a thrilling contest to Hamilton Parish by one wicket last weekend as captain Dexter Basden's ton was the only consolation for Cuts. "Scoring a century is nice but I'd rather score a 50 and win the game,'' a disappointed Basden said afterwards.

Bay will be even tougher than Parish were the week before and Cuts will rely on Basden to again lead their batting, along with the likes of Kevin Fubler, Trevor Dickinson, Rodney Fubler and Vivian Simons. Richard Basden is likely to miss his second match through injury.

The former Eastern Counties champions have a solid batting line-up, from openers Richard Foggo and Chris Smith to Charlie Marshall, Glenn Smith, Noel Gibbons and Devrae Hollis in the top half. After that the likes of Jermaine Outerbridge, Ricky Hodsoll, Clarkie Trott and Anthony Braithwaite are all solid with the bat.

Devonshire Rec. lost six wickets in chasing Social Club's total of 127 but should still be firm favorites over Flatts tomorrow. Social Club are trying desperately to remove the `pushover' tag, which has been stuck on their backs for many years and with the experience of player/coach Lee Raynor, Sr. and former Western Stars opener Cecil Tucker joining them this season to blend with their youth they could spring a surprise or two this season. Their opponents this weekend are Somerset who beat Nationals in a mild upset, especially after being asked to chase 207 by a good Nationals bowling attack.

Perry Maybury overshadowed Darrin Lewis' 76 for Nationals with his own knock of 74, which took the west-enders to a five-wicket win.

Nationals take on Hamilton Parish -- probably at Shelly Bay field as their field is still being used for rugby -- in another interesting match in the Gold section. After last weekend's loss they need a win to boost their morale in time for next weekend's match with Bailey's Bay.

Stars, Cleveland and Police should all pick up their second wins in the Green section while St. David's face a tricky away match against Southampton Rangers.

This section produced the highest scores last weekend as St. David's scored 290 against St. George's, Cleveland blasted 281 against Southampton Rangers and Police smashed the hapless Somerset Bridge attack for 289 as captain Ferdinand Thorne scored 115 not out.

Tomorrow Stars travel to White Hill field to meet Bridge who have been boosted by new signings Lee Raynor, Jr., who scored more than half their 102 runs against Police last weekend, Craig Brangman, Gladwin Ingham, Sidney Simmons and Brian Gibbons.

Stars were missing Wayne Richardson and Anthony Manders last weekend and both could be in the side for the match with Bridge with Dexter Smith likely to be missing.

Cleveland, who surprised Rangers at home last weekend as opener Wayne Smith became the first batsman to fall on the dreaded 99 this season, should not have too much trouble with Warwick while Police should be favoured over St.

George's at Police field.

Kenny Phillips and Ian Moe lead the St. George's attack against their former team.

Basden and Thorne scored the first centuries of the season, both unbeaten, while 14 other batsmen scored half-centuries last weekend. The best bowling was the six for 20 turned in by Western Stars captain Gary Brangman as Warwick were bowled out for 46.
