The Devonshire hotel and cottage complex, which is partly owned by Hollywood superstar Michael Douglas, closed Caliban's restaurant and bar from January 5 to 13 to carry out the repainting and other upgrades.

General manager Alan Paris said: "This is not something that has been forced on us, it is just that for four days there was no one in the hotel and we took the opportunity to do this.''
