There is still time to join the Tall Ships Race 2008
Sail Training Bermuda has 13 spots available for people aged 16 to 25 to get on board and participate in the Tall Ships Race 2008.
Those who are interested in sailing in the North West Europe Tall Ships races are being encouraged to contact Sail Training Bermuda to sign up for one of the spots. Previous sailing experience is not necessary.
The fleet of training vessels representing 22 countries, ranging from Brazil to Mexico, Bulgaria and Oman, will gather in Liverpool, England on July 18 for the start of the five-week Tall Ships Race 2008.
The fleet will sail down the River Mersey on July 21 and on to Northern Ireland for the race start on July 23. Next, the fleet will sail around the top of Scotland and across the North Sea to Maloy, in Norway.
It will then head down the coast of Norway to Bergen before heading to Den Helder, Netherlands for the final celebrations.
There are three free spots on the tall ship, Morgenster from Liverpool to Maloy taking place July 20 to August 1. Sail Training Bermuda will help with the cost of air fare.
From Maloy to Bergen, August 4 to August 9, there are three trainee spaces on De Gallant and two spaces on Lotos, a sailing project for the disabled. Funding is available from Sail Training Bermuda.
From Bergen to Den Helder, August 12 to August 20, there are five trainee spaces on Christian Radich and funding is also available.
