The new PW's dock is almost ready for boat access - and Waterloo House is ready for the dust to settle.

The quaint guesthouse, located on PW's east side, faces directly toward the dock construction.

But the new dock at PW's is slated to begin filling up with boats as of July 1, PW's spokeswoman Nicola Stegmann said yesterday. The marine supply store has been preparing its new floating dock and has been in the midst of revamping to update the premises for most of the year while continuing to finish the rest of the facilities.

"We still have mixed emotions right now but it will be difficult to tell until the boat traffic starts up," said the hotel's general manager David Woodhouse.

"We're just waiting until the construction dies down to get a feel for the atmosphere."

Mr. Woodhouse said PW's had been very accommodating with any requests including moving a huge barge out of the waterfront view for a wedding party.

The dock, which is being built opposite to the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club in Barr's Bay, and directly in front of Waterloo House and other buildings to the east of PW's is planned to have 53 berths. The berths will range from 25 feet to 70 feet.

Construction for the new Shell Marina gas station is still underway.

The station will have boat access and will sell amenities such as ice. PW's hopes the station will be finished by mid-summer but has no set date.

Mr. Woodhouse was happy with the work that had been finished and was also happy to note that the lunch traffic had not been affected much by the construction.

"The new docks will hopefully benefit Waterloo House as more boats will be around to use their facilities," Ms Stegmann said. "But it can't be easy being a guest house on top of construction," she added.
