The popular Tucker's Town wedding spot the Natural Arches have been destroyed in Fabian's onslaught on South Shore.

The loss of the picture postcard landmark was mourned by tourists and locals alike.

Devonshire resident Linda Augustus said she enjoyed romancing at the beauty spot which featured two natural arches worn away in the rock high enough for people to stand under.

She said: "It's just like a part of my life and a part of Bermuda's life. There is nothing like them. It's a very, very romantic spot."

Fellow Bermudian Robert Rogers enjoyed taking photos through the arches when the sun was coming up.

He said: "My kids will miss them."

Repeat tourist Will Werley, from Baltimore, was spotted looking sadly at the rubble left by Fabian. "It's a shame, there is nothing like it.

He said a friend had been featured on a post card after being photographed in the 1960s sitting under the rock as a little girl.

"I have been trying to get that post card for years. I keep looking on E-bay."
