allowing a Sandy's Parish man to keep his licence after he was clocked speeding at 77 kilometres per hour.

Jermaine Rumley, 21, of Spring Benny Road, pleaded guilty to speeding on August 26, as well as failing to stop for Police and failing to be in possession of a valid drivers licence. Rumley, an electrician, explained he needed his licence to get around for work.

"What I'm going to do is take you off the road from motorcycles for 15 months. The kind of vehicle you were caught doing the offence on. But I will still allow you to ride an auxiliary cycle and drive a car.'' Mr. Chin fined Rumley $525 for speeding, $125 for failing to stop for a Police officer and $125 for no drivers licence.

IMPAIRED VISITOR SPENDS CHRISTMAS IN JAIL CTS Impaired visitor spends Christmas in jail Holiday drinking and driving earned a Bermuda visitor a night in jail and a $400 fine when he appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Thirty-five-year-old Australian David Graham Mason, 35, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired on December 25, before Acting Magistrate Tyrone Chin.

The court heard that at about 3.05 a.m., Police stopped Mason after they noticed him swerving across the lanes while riding his auxiliary cycle on Crow Lane in Pembroke.

When Police questioned him about having had anything to drink, Mason replied: "I had three beers.'' Mason was taken to Hamilton Police Station where he gave a breath test and was found to have 141 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. He was held over night, to appear in court yesterday.
