Moulder's progress is hit by injury
Chris Moulder's progress at English football club Bournemouth has been hit by injury, writes Matt Westcott.
The teenager, signed by the Second Division club last year, has been earning rave reviews from coach Joe Roach after being moved from his more customary defensive role to that of a striker.
The coach had even hinted that a reserve team outing might not be too far away.
However, a knee injury sustained earlier this season has set back the Bermudian youth international's development.
Moulder was rushed back a little too soon and as a result exacerbated the problem in a match earlier this year.
Playing against Cirencester he found the back of the net, but then was forced off through pain.
"My knee started to really hurt after I scored the goal and I had to come off. I wasn't fully fit," said Moulder from the UK.
"I'm receiving ultrasound treatment. They take it really serious. Right now I am lifting weights, cycling and trying to run a little bit. I am trying to stay fairly fit so that when I do come back it won't be such a struggle.
"They are trying to rest me because they don't want to rush me and have me out for longer. I have talked to Joe on a number of occasions about me playing in the reserves. I was supposed to play several times but my injury has really held me back. He doesn't want to get the wrong impression of me by playing me in the reserves when I'm not fully fit."
Moulder said he hoped to play again before the end of the season. "We were rained out against Exeter and Bristol Rovers so I'll probably be able to play for those games," he said.
On the positive side, Moulder, who started training again at the end of last week, said he was really enjoying his time.
"I'm very happy to be at Bournemouth. It's a great club and very organised," he said. "I watch the first team occasionally. They play really well when they start to work together and they have just beaten Stoke 3-1."
