Hedges drops one place after error
SANTO DOMINGO -- A technical error has led to Bermuda cyclist Kris Hedges being demoted one spot in Monday's Pan-Am Games cycling time trial standings.
Hedges was originally given seventh after the 50 kilometre race at Mirador Sur in Santo Domingo.
However, timekeepers had miscalculated the finish of Brazilian Fisher Murillo, who had been given tenth place. As a result the South American was elevated to sixth when the mistake was spotted and Hedges given a new finish of eighth.
Yesterday was a rest day for Bermuda's remaining competitors - cyclists and swimmers - as the Games begin to wind down.
Today, it's back to the pool for Kiera Aitken and Ronald Cowen. Aitken competes in heat one of the women's 100 metres backstroke while Cowen goes in heat three of the men's 100 metres freestyle.
The cyclists are back on their bikes at the weekend, Julia Hawley in the women's road race on Saturday and Hedges and Geri Mewett in the men's road race on Sunday, the penultimate day of the Games.
