The 20-year-old suffered extensive injuries when her livery cycle careered off the road just after 1 a.m.

She spent the day in intensive care and went through emergency surgery last night.

But hospital nursing officials described her condition as "stable'' after an operation.

The woman was driving towards her home in Sandys Parish when she lost control of ther bike near Port Royal golf course.

Police said the bike slid off the road and into a tree near the junction of Middle Road and Pompano Road.

A Bermuda Police Service spokeswoman said: "She was taken to hospital with serious injuries and multiple fractures, including a broken shoulder.'' Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact P.c. Harris in the Western Division on 234-1010.
