Machete attack

A man underwent surgery yesterday after being struck on the head with a machete in Hamilton Parish.

Police said the assault occurred at 3.45 p.m. and inquiries are continuing.

The man is in stable condition.

Spending survey

Government has selected 1,200 households to survey next month to measure how much money people are spending.

The Department of Statistics will ask people to record what they spend on items like “furniture, clothing, transportation, medical care and recreation” to update the Consumer Price Index.

Chief statistician Mrs. Valerie Robinson James said it should be “very revealing...This will be a valuable exercise for them and we are asking for their full cooperation.”

The interviewing begins on May 7 and will continue for two months.

Postcards were mailed out to “alert households that they have been selected to participate in the Household expenditure survey.”
