The Bermuda Red Cross said on Saturday that the shipment of aid it sent to the island of Montserrat had reached the local Red Cross.

The shipment included an ambulance from St. John Ambulance, office equipment, a computer, a fax machine and office furniture.

The aid arrived in Plymouth, Montserrat on June 24, the day before a surge in volcanic activity which cut off the area to key services.

That areas have remained closed to all except search and rescue teams since June 25. But the Port Authority was able to release the shipment to the Montserrat Red Cross on Friday.

MOTORCYCLISTS INJURED IN COLLISION AC Motorcyclist injured in collision A cyclist was last night injured after his motorcycle was in collision with a car.

The accident happened around 9.30 p.m. on South Shore Road near Church Bay.

Police were last night unable to say how serious the cyclist's injuries were.
