The Argus Group celebrated the opening of its new offices in Gibraltar with a ceremony attended by the Governor of Gilbraltar Sir Francis Richards. In addition the company has been re-branded to reflect the new ownership.

In November 2004, the Argus Group announced that it had signed an agreement to buy Norwich Union International Insurance Company Limited, the leading insurer in Gibraltar with over 50 percent market share, specialising in property and motor insurance.

The move to the new modern premises at Regal House reflects the re-branding of the former Norwich Union operations and provides an enhanced working environment for the 19 staff employed in Gibraltar.

In addition to Sir Francis, deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Trade Industry Communication and Tourism, Joe Holliday, joined the celebrations.

Also in attendance from new owners the Argus Group were president and chief executive officer, Gerald Simons; Bob Anderson, executive vice-president, property and casualty, Bob Anderson; chief financial officer David Pugh; and assistant vice-president, finance, George Neilson,

Though Argus may be the new name above the door, the core business has strong roots in the Gibraltar community, with connections going back more than 150 years.

At the opening, Mr. Simons said: "There are so many parallels between Bermuda and Gibraltar ? the English language, English law, the thriving economy and the talented workforce.

"I believe that these are key elements in why the transition to new ownership has been so successful along with our long standing close relationship with the Aviva Group.

"I would like to express my gratitude to the management and staff of Argus, Gibraltar for their hard work and dedication. We are confident that the new offices will add great value to the services offered by our Gibraltar operation."
