St. George's plans Good Friday walk
For those wishing to give their children a more poignant and detailed understanding of Easter, the churches of St. George are uniting once again to portray the last hours of Christ before his crucifixion
The traditional Good Friday play, "Jesus' Walk to Calvary," has been produced every year for the last several years, with the cast comprised of members from a variety of churches and denominations, all within the Town of St. George. It is interactive, with those watching being invited to walk through the Town with the cast.
Beginning at 10:45am at Ebenezer Methodist Church on Good Friday, March 21, the walk will first travel to Richard Allen AME, where you will witness Judas conspiring with the Sanhedrin and Chief Priests. Then, it is on to the Unfinished Church, which is the site for the Garden of Gethsemane and Judas' betrayal of Christ with a kiss.
Christ stands before the Sanhedrin and the High Priest at the Salvation Army, while we see Peter's denial at Stella Maris. Pilate holds office at St. Peter's, where he releases Barabas, before the crucifixion at Ordinance Island.
The event is free to all who wish to attend, and guests are recommended to wear good walking shoes and to bring an umbrella in case of inclement weather.
