Belco signs new supply agreement
Bermuda Electric Light Co. Ltd has signed a new supply and services agreement with a St. Louis-based company in an effort to create efficiencies and more importantly find cost reductions.
Andrew Parsons, senior vice president corporate services at Belco, said that while Belco had traditionally ordered its supplies from Energy Supply of Tampa, under the new deal, Graybar Electric will supply Belco with transmission and distribution products and supply-chain management and logistics services. ESOT will now mainly just supply transformers and poles.
Belco will use Graybar?s e-commerce tools and other services to boost its efficiency and reduce costs while Graybar?s corporate accounts unit in New York will provide account services and its Parsippany, N.J., staff will ship products to Belco.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Mr. Parsons said that beyond the fact that Graybar?s price for the energy delivery products came in as the most competitive, the company?s shipping location is another advantage.
?They are now in New Jersey which gives us east coast warehousing and access to materials quicker than we would have with our supplier down in Tampa,? he said. ?The location has effected better processing on our end. We?re able to access material quicker and they will also help us with efficiencies in terms of warehousing and modelling because of their experiences in the United States.?
