Central European shares bought
Central European Media Enterprises Ltd. and now holds 10.45 percent of the company's common stock.
Mercury Asset said in a Schedule 13D filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it bought 268,300 shares between November 18 and March 21 at prices ranging from $28.50 to $33.63 a share.
Although Mercury Asset reported owning a 14.64 percent stake in November, the investment manager's stake fell to 10.45 percent despite the purchases because of the company's increased number of shares outstanding.
MILLENNIUM SUBSIDIARY WINS DEAL BUC Millennium subsidiary wins deal Millennium International Ltd., formerly BSL Holdings Ltd., said its Bahamas subsidiary, Digital Systems (Bahamas) Ltd., has been appointed Compaq's exclusive representative in the Bahamas.
With annual revenues of $18.1 billion, Compaq is the world's leading PC desktop and network server supplier, Millennium said.
Millennium's subsidiaries include Business Systems Ltd. and Internet (Bermuda) Ltd.
SEA CONTAINERS; APPOINTMENTS APP SHI Sea Containers' appointments Bermuda-based Sea Containers Ltd. yesterday announced the appointments of Christopher W.M. Garnett as Vice President, Rail and David G. Benson Senior Vice President, Ferries, Rails and Ports.
Both appointments were effective on February 28.
Garnett managed the eastern division of Sealink for Sea Containers until the business was sold to Stena Line in 1990. He then became Commercial Director of Eurotunnel and rejoined Sea Containers in 1995, where he was laregely responsible for the company's acquisition of the rail franchise for Britain's East Coast Main Line.
Benson, meantime, has worked for British Airways, P&O Ferries and Virgin.
Prior to his appointment he managed the company's tourist train business and Wightlink Ltd., the Isle of Wight ferry company which has since been sold.
