seminar at the Princess Hotel.

As many as 30 companies could send representatives to the seminar, including IBM customers, independent consultants and other companies with an interest in client/server technology.

The event is sponsored by IBM Canada, Synon Canada and James Martin & Company, and their representatives making presentations are Ms Evelyn Porter, Mr.

Robert Lutton and Mr. Greg Peterson, respectively.

The companies are leaders in three essential areas of client/server technology, said marketing representative with BCS, Mr. Robert Jones. The three areas are development tools, systems and servers and methodologies and techniques, he said.

Client/server is an approach which combines the strengths of centralised and distributed computing in the most cost-effective and efficient manner, retaining the control and robustness of the central machine, while developing processing power and flexibility to the desktop.

The seminar is aimed at information technology professionals who are moving toward, or are already responsible for, the management of new enterprise client/server applications for their organisation.

Mr. Jones said that those attending will receive invaluable information on the potential impact of client/server on their organisation, the products, tools and techniques available today to implement it, and a glimpse into the future of client/server related technology.

The three guest speakers will give presentations in the morning, and there will be product demonstrations in the afternoon.
