More than 600 jobs in the hospitality industry will be available at a job fair next week, Economy Minister Kim Wilson announced today.Ms Wilson said that all categories of positions will be available, ranging from entry level positions to skilled and managerial positions.“Unlike past job fairs, the industry has come together to document exactly how many available positions exist in each category at each property,” she said.“I must say, I was pleased to learn of so many job opportunities that the hotels are hoping to fill with Bermudians, jobs ranging from conference managers, reservations and front desk staff, maintenance technicians, room attendants, servers and more.”A list of the available positions will be posted on a Job Board, together with the job requirements, along with the number of positions available. She said that training programmes will be available for some positions, such as the server positions to help the unemployed reinvent themselves and become job ready in the current job market.John Harvey, of the Bermuda Hotel Association, said that those who do well in entry level positions in the hospitality industry have a range of opportunities for promotions within the industry.“It’s all about attitude, this industry,” he said. “I hear general managers talking all the time about how all they need is a smile. Then you are there.“Think of this industry as a career, not as a hustle.”The job fair will be held on Tuesday, November 1 at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess between 10am and 4pm.Those taking part are advised to bring ten to 12 copies of their resume on the day of the fair. Those who require assistance producing a resume can visit the Department of Labour and Training during business hours to take advantage of the complementary computer centre.
