A spate of road accidents reported across the Island
A 24-year-old woman was taken to hospital after she lost control of her car and it hit a wall in Smith's in the early hours of yesterday.
The motorist, from St. George's, was travelling east on Knapton Hill when the crash happened at about 2.50 a.m.
She sustained injuries to her head, ribs, arms and left knee in the crash and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
Police said no other vehicles were involved in the accident, which left the car with extensive front end damage and also damaged the wall and an iron gate.
The day before, there was a similar crash in Paget but the 20-year-old male driver was not injured. The Southampton man was travelling west along South Road, near the junction with St. Paul's Lane, when he lost control of his car at about 4 a.m.
The vehicle struck a wall, collided with a parked motorcycle and hit another wall next to a home. Police said a section of the wall was demolished and the car and motorcycle were both damaged.
Meanwhile, a man from Warwick who lost control of his jeep and collided with a utility pole was later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
The accident happened at about 3.40 a.m. on Saturday on Harbour Road in Paget, near the junction with Cobbs Hill Road.
A Police spokesman said the jeep was travelling west when it hit the pole. The 20-year-old driver suffered facial injuries and went to hospital in an ambulance.
Electricity supply was reportedly affected in the area and Belco staff attended the scene to repair the pole. The jeep was extensively damaged.
On Friday evening, there was a crash involving a bike and a truck which left the male motorcyclist with a suspected broken right hip.
The accident happened just before 7.30 p.m. on South Road in Paget, near the junction with Mission Road.
Police said the truck was travelling east and the motorcycle was coming in the opposite direction when they collided.
The 41-year-old motorcyclist, from Warwick, was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment and was later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
The 54-year-old truck driver, from Paget, was not injured. The truck and bike were both damage and traffic was delayed in the area. All four crashes are being investigated.
