The Centre for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention is looking for a new executive director and will concentrate on pushing the sensible drinking message.

Chairman Canon James Francis said the charity had human resources consultants giving it a revamp after previous executive director Cathy Belvedere left in October.

Canon Francis said: "HR Associates Limited is well on the way in getting us back on our feet. We have scaled back our agency so we could come up with a new design as requested by funding agencies."

He said candidates were being interviewed for the executive director post and the new appointee would then select new staff.

It's understood the charity will push the Bermuda Responsible Alcohol Sales Service (BRASS) programme in bars, clubs and restaurants.

Sheila Nicoll of the Council Partners Charitable Trust said her organisation would be happy to fund the revamped CADA.

She said: "The Council Partners are very supportive of BRASS because we recognise alcohol issues are very important.

"If BRASS succeeds it will help the community deal with underage drinking and the problem of continuing to serve people who have already had too much to drink. It will help educate who work in bars, clubs and hotels on how to deal with situations."
