Exposed: Saddam and his Bermuda shorts
Has deposed dictator Saddam Husseindone a U-turn on Bermuda shorts?
Six years ago, when the despot was at the height of his power, he issued a decree banning people from wearing shorts because they ?inflame the passions of women and lead to immoral behaviour?.
It prompted a reporter with a sense of humour to send Saddam a pair of Bermuda shorts.
It could be that they won him over. When Saddam (pictured) was discovered in his hiding hole a large dirty pair of black and yellow Bermuda shorts were found, according to British tabloid The Daily Mirror. had sent him 42-inch khaki shorts in 1998. Astonishingly that cheeky stunt sparked outrage here with talk show callers jamming the airwaves to complain Saddam would re-point his infamous Scud missiles towards Bermuda.
Some complained this paper was ?disrespecting? the mass killer while ZBM presenter Everest DeCosta agreed that Bermudians had been placed at risk, and said the story could cause a diplomatic incident similar to that which drew Japan into World War Two.
One caller said: ?It?s just like sending mini skirts to Mother Theresa.?
