The Island's Health and Safety inspector said yesterday there will not be a probe into a spate of construction accidents in recent weeks.

Government's Health & Safety, Inspector Harry Powell commented after an excavator toppled over onto a crane at the construction site owned by the Anglican Church in Bermuda on Victoria Street.

It was the second industrial accident in as many weeks involving equipment from industry leader, Island Construction.

But said the matters do not warrant a full probe, Mr. Powell said, adding that no one was injured.

He revealed that a piece of rubble jammed in the excavator's tracks, caused the accident.

Further investigation will be carried out by the main contractor for the site - landmark Construction.

An Island Construction pay loader fell over on a job site about two weeks ago at the Mid Ocean Golf Course, when the heavy vehicle had become unsteady and fallen onto a golf tee.

Had it not fallen onto the tee he said it would have dropped 60 feet into a ravine.

Luckily, there were no injuries in the Mid Ocean accident and Mr. Powell said it was just an "unfortunate" construction incident.
