For the second time in the space of a week, a Bermudian has been killed in a road accident involving a car full of young people.

Chioke "Bruiser" Spencer died after the white Toyota Yaris he was driving ploughed into a wall at Middle Road, Southampton, at 11.30 p.m. on Monday.

Three friends of the 22-year-old construction worker, aged 16 to 23 were injured and rushed to hospital as a result of the single car accident, which happened just east of Port Royal Golf Course.

The tragedy comes four days after Troylisha Outerbridge, 19, died and four of her friends aged 15 to 23 suffered injuries when their car veered off an embankment at Shelly Bay field, North Shore Road, at 4.30 a.m. on Friday.

The Monday night crash has brought the number of people killed on Bermuda's roads to three this year.

Last night, Mr. Spencer's mother Terriann spoke of her love for the outgoing former Whitney Institute student, who lived at Limehouse Lane, Hamilton Parish.

"He was a very outgoing, loving, kind-hearted person who was always willing to help anyone," she told The Royal Gazette.

"He was very well-liked. A good son. We are all just very, very numb. I can't sleep and can't eat."

Mr. Spencer, who had a 21-year-old sister and 12-year-old brother, enjoyed playing football with his friends in Hamilton Parish and scrambling, his mother said.

The four friends were in Somerset on Monday evening, which was the 16th birthday of one of the passengers, a youth from Devonshire. The other passengers were brothers aged 23 and 17 from Devonshire.
