Robinson eyes changes to property

Former PLP MP Delaey Robinson has applied for planning permission to change the use of his St. George's property to a mixed use facility.

According to a planning notice filed with the Department of Planning, Mr. Robinson has plans to change 7 Old Maid's Lane to a mixed use facility for residential and tourist purposes.

Mr. Robinson would not confirm whether the change of use is for his home or for his guest house, Aunt Nea's Inn. Aunt Nea's Inn is located at Hill Crest, St. George's.

He also declined to comment about the details of the application. Mr. Robinson and his wife Andrea Dismont, had their home, near Aunt Nea's Inn, featured on PBS this year as part of A&E Network's ‘This Old House' series. The project renovated Harbour View, Mr. Robinson's former bachelor pad situated across from Aunt Nea's Inn. Mr Robinson was funding the $600,000 renovation himself although some contractors involved were offering discounts.

Fresh water to keep course in top shape

St. George's Golf Club will be using an environmentally friendly method to keep its course in top condition.

General manager Max Atherden said the club had sought planning approval to install a reverse osmosis tank which converts salt water to fresh water.

The tank is expected to pump 36,000 gallons of water into the course every day. The machinery will be located above ground adjacent to the golf club and works by extracting salt water from the water lens through a well and purifying it to fresh water.

Mr. Atherden said the club had already dug the wells and were waiting for permission to install the osmosis unit.
