Challenge nice and three-sy for Trott
Sean Trott won the International Race Weekend Half Marathon Triangle Challenge after coming first in each if the three events in the criterium.Trott had the fastest time in the mile event, while also posting the best time in the 10k and the half marathon, with his half time being his best to date. The youngster ran the mile in five minutes, while posting a time of 33:39 for the 10k to be the second local runner to cross the line behind Chris Estwanik. His half marathon of 1.13:25 was his best time at that distance.Trott also competed in the local men’s mile, placing fourth in the race.“It feels great to be the champion, this is actually my best half marathon time to date so I’m quite thrilled with it,” said Trott. “I never thought I would have been this fast after the first two days so I’m happy with the result.Admitting that he was surprised on how his weekend went, Trott didn’t have it his own way, with his body having to come to grips with the rigours of running so many miles in such a short time.Next up for the promising runner is the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association cross country championships, in Tobago, an event he competed in last year.“The weekend overall was great, I ran two mile races on Friday night, and I pushed hard in those so when I woke up Saturday I felt really sore but after a good warm up I felt better and posted a good time.“Today I tried to come out conservative because of the soreness at the beginning, and Stephen Allen caught up with me a few miles in and we pushed the pace and went from there and my legs opened up for me to that was helpful as well.“I will get back into training now for the next month and get ready for the NACAC cross country championships in Tobago in February.”
