Businesses, Police and volunteers joined staff at the centre on Reid Street, Hamilton, to toast the new-look building and receive an up-date on how the charity is performing.

Chairwoman Penny Dill said it was only the second time the centre had held an open night, but she was thrilled so many people had been able to attend.

She said she particularly wanted to thank those who made the re-furbishment happen, including Dave Swift of Pembroke Paint Supplies, who offered the paint free of charge, and the centre's regular, major sponsors.

They include Ace group of companies, Centenial Trust and Renaissance Re-insurance, as well as Government.

Ms Dill said: "We just wanted to say thank you to everyone and give them an opportunity to have a look at the improvements we have made.''
