A letter from Zimbabwe
Greetings from Africa,
To all my friends at Harrington Sound Primary, Whitney Institute Middle School, Warwick Academy, Bermuda Institute, Sea Cadets St. George?s Unit and the Cathedral Boys? Choir Bermuda, greetings.
I do miss you and I miss Bermuda. Many of you I did not see to tell before leaving Bermuda that I was leaving for Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Africa. I will be living here for the next year but I hope it will be two years. I am having a great time here.
I am attending Masiyephambili Junior School. I love it very much. I have many new friends. Many of my friends were born here in Africa and others are from India.
My friends speak English but they also speak Ndebele. I am learning the language. Masiyephambili is a private school and has grades 1-7. The school year starts in January and ends in December.
So I was placed in Grade 6 as a review of Grade 6 and I will go in Grade 7 in January. I am on the cricket team and in January I will be on the swim team. The school has a swimming pool, two tennis courts and the soccer field is very big.
Bulawayo is a very large city. It is the second largest city in Zimbabwe. I love it. I has lots to do. I love going to the mall on Saturdays. Last week I visited Victoria Falls which is outside of Bulawayo and I have been to a few game parks. I have seen many animals. My favourite animal is the lion.
I would like it very much if you will e-mail me. My e-mail address is walkersinzimbabwehotmail.com. I would love to hear from you. I would also like to introduce some of my friends to you. My address is P.O. Box AC 1088, Ascot, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Africa.
Please let me hear from you.
Your friend,
Derrick Walker.
