Police name drowning victim

A 59-year-old American visitor died yesterday after getting into difficulty while swimming at Cross Bay Beach, Southampton.

Police today said Jeremias Dubyk's unresponsive body was pulled from the waters off Cross Bay around 3 p.m. He had been snorkelling in the area.

Mr. Dubyk was given CPR at the scene and was rushed to KEMH but died a shortly after.

Michael Collard, general manager of nearby Wyndam Bermuda Resort, formally known as the Sonesta Beach Hotel, said on Thursday that the man is survived by a wife and son, believed to be around 12 years old.

Mr. Collard said the man and his family were guests at the resort as part of a “medical group” of around 40 to 50 guests who were staying at the resort for four days.
