Elbow Beach Hotel is opening a new spa next month which is says will offer guests "Bermuda's ultimate pampering experience".

The luxury getaway will have six private self-contained spas and will have "Asian accents," according to the hotel's communications director Kendaree Burgess-Fairn.

Elbow joins other leading hotels the Fairmont Southampton, the Reefs, Cambridge Beaches and Aerial Sands in opening spas aimed at putting Bermuda on the map for luxury relaxation.

The former Lantana resort is set to be bought out and re-opened as the Spa Resort at Lantana, while Bermudian businessman Ramahdin "Rammy" Smith and former Ritz Carlton president Horst Schultz last month unveiled plans to open a 100 room luxury hotel and spa at South Shore, Warwick, to be called the Cliffs Resort and Spa.

"The spa will incorporate traditional Bermudian remedies with the time honoured techniques from around the world and transport guests to a tranquil realm that reflects the Island's calming sea, soothing sands and the golden warmth of the tropical sun," said Ms Burgess-Fairn.

"The new spa experience will be a truly luxurious experience. (Owner) Mandarin Oriental is famous not just for its luxurious properties, but also for its award-winning spas.

"We are looking forward to offering spa experiences that are truly Bermudian in our world-class facility."
