Parking has not been a problem with construction on the new fourth storey at the Bulls Head parking lot right on schedule, according to the Corporation of Hamilton.

However Corporation secretary Roger Sherratt said the Corporation is still calling on the public to use public transportation whenever possible, and leave their cars at home.

Just over half of the third storey of the car park has been closed off in order for construction to take place, leaving only about 70 spaces available on that storey. Mr. Sherratt said on most days there are empty spaces on that storey, sometimes up to 20. Yesterday afternoon, he added, there were ten spaces free on the third storey of the parking lot.

Admitting there were times when there was a shortage of parking in the City of Hamilton, he said he did not know why that would be on some days and not on others.

Contractors D&J Construction are in the process of placing steel decking and concreting columns for the new level, he said. Once construction has been completed on the first half of the new storey, construction will shift to the other side of the lot to build the second half. The new story is expected to be completed by May of 2004.
