Beyoncé has become one of the most widely recognised and highly respected women in pop culture. She established herself as a founding member and front woman of Destiny's Child and later developed into an iconic solo artist.

Destiny's Child was formed in Houston, Texas in 1990, when Beyoncé was nine years old. She has gone on to become one of the top-selling female recording artists of all times.

With many of the group's hits co-written and co-produced by Beyoncé, Destiny's Child earned 147 RIAA gold, platinum and multi-platinum certifications worldwide and is tied with the Supremes as the female R&B group to have the most albums chart in the Top 5. In 2001, she became the first African-American woman and the second woman ever to take home the ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year Award.

She toured America for the first time as a solo artist in 2004 in support of her number one multi-platinum debut solo album, "Dangerously in Love," which earned her five Grammy Awards that year including Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best R&B Song for "Crazy In Love" featuring Jay-Z. With her five-in-one-year Grammy win, she tied the record for the most Grammys to be won in a single year by a female artist.

She made chart history in 2003 when she became the first artist in 20 years, and the first female recording artist ever, to simultaneously reach number one in the US and the UK with both her album "Dangerously In Love" and single "Crazy In Love", a feat accomplished by a mere handful of artists including the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Rod Stewart, and Men At Work in 1983 over the years.

In 2006, the artiste released another album, which co-incided with her twenty-fifth birthday, "B'DAY." Her album closed out 2006 as one of the year's most successful albums, entering the Billboard Top 200 best-selling albums chart at number one and achieving 2006's highest first week's sales of any female recording act, group or solo

During the 2007 Grammy Awards, the album won for Best Contemporary R&B Album, resulting in Beyoncé's tenth Grammy win overall and seventh win as a solo artist.

In November of the same year, the American Music Awards honoured her with the International Artist Award making Beyonc é the first woman in AMA history and sixth artist overall to be recognised with the prestigious award.

One month later, Beyoncé was nominated for two Grammys: Record of the Year for "Irreplaceable" and Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for "Beautiful Liar," her superstar duet with Shakira."Beautiful Liar" set the all-time record for the biggest chart jump in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 bulleting upward an unprecedented 91 slots, from number 94 to number three in a single week.

She is hailed as a renaissance woman for the 21st Century; Beyoncé remains above all, a passionate and transcendent performer committed to the deep love of music she first discovered as a little girl growing up in Houston, Texas.

Her sister Solange Knowles will also debut tonight at the Bermuda Music Festival 08. She has welcomed listenerS to step into her field of dreams without the preconceived notions. She recently released SoL-AngeL & The Hadley Street Dreams with mixed critical acclaim.

"My life as a performer started very early on," she wrote. "Classically trained in ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance, I stepped in, unexpectedly, as a back up dancer when a Destiny's Child dancer suddenly had to leave the tour.

"This position gave me the opportunity to travel all across the world to places such as Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa and Mexico. It was then that I developed a deep sense of culture, style and artistic sensibility." At the age of 16, she released her debut album, Solo Star, on Columbia Records.

"This album was a creative turning point for me; a melting pot of different genres and sounds including R&B, Reggae, Alternative and even Country," wrote Solange. "My first single 'Feeling You,' featured Noreaga, was a Reggaeton/Dancehall inspired song.

This was always the vision I had for the record despite my label's own reservations, and although I had all of the bigwig producers on board - The Neptunes, Timbaland, Rockwilder, and the Underdogs - I struggled to find one sound of my own.

"However, I found a new love for writing, which I was able to showcase on Kelly Rowland's debut solo album, Simply Deep, shortly after."Reminiscing, she wrote, "My father once brought me to this piece of land in downtown Houston, where he was planning to build a compound for his record label, along with a studio for me to write and record my music.

"When I looked at this city block, all I could see was this empty lot with an old plantation home in a homeless and drug infested area, but he had a vision and a dream that he held onto and made into reality.

"This location is now the headquarters for a project he started in the spare bedroom of my childhood home. The name of the street is Hadley St. and this is indeed, where I started the making of my album

"It was an eye opener and an evolution for me as an artist. I felt the bravery in making music that inspired me and started to pull out my old records from Shuggie, Otis, Marvin Gaye, and Otis Redding - artists that had messages and melodies that spoke to me.

"I experimented with the soul of that type of music by adding subtle electronic influences I picked up along the way from travelling and spending so much time in London and France. "I decided that lyrically I would tell my story, with hopes to inspire and most importantly spare no punches in holding back."

In describing the sound of her record, she wrote that she would have to say that it was if The Supremes, The Marvelettes, Dusty Springfield and Minnie Riperton were to make the music they did in the 60's and 70's now, with a modern touch.

"When hearing this album, I hope the listener is taken back to a time when music was melodic, sweet, and soulful," she stated. "A time when music was less provocative and came from a place of inspiration and storytelling.

I hope to reach people with an open ear and who are willing to take risks."On 'God Given Name' I start the record saying: 'Get me out of this box I feel so claustrophobic in here, leave your labels, leave with no vision, hear my voice and feel with your ears,' and that's exactly what I hope to achieve with the listeners of this album.

"Hadley is a long, long road to travel, and this is just the beginning for me."Lyfe Jennings plans to capture the audience's attention with his authentic, soulful voice, innovative lyrical style and undeniable talent.

The revolution of positive music was bound to happen and Chester "Lyfe" Jennings welcomes the change with open arms.He is ready to establish an even deeper connection with his fans and garner new ones with his latest effort.

The platinum selling soul singer, songwriter and producer is poised for success with his anticipated album Lyfe Change. Highlights on his 14-track album include collaborations with Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dogg and T.I., as well as Grammy nominated producers, Jerry (Wonda) Duplessis, The Underdogs and Rich Keller.

"I'm considered to be an R&B cat because I'm a soul singer, but I also enjoy rock, jazz, and all kinds of music," admitted Lyfe. "I'm a musician. I'm not in a box. That's what I hate about categories.

People put you into one and dare you to come out!" Lyfe Jennings, who is a native of Toledo, Ohio, transformed the music world in 2004 after the release of his critically acclaimed debut Lyfe 268-192. It was hailed as gritty and raw; the album created devoted fans everywhere and sold over a million copies.

With brutally honest lyrics and dynamic live performances, Lyfe walked listeners down his turbulent road, giving them an edgy autobiographical history lesson that made him relatable. He captured an even broader audience in 2006 with his sophomore effort, "The Phoenix," which expanded on his life story, taking listeners through different phases of a man.

The album featured the smash hit, "S-E-X," a cautionary tale for young women from a male perspective. His latest offering, Lyfe Change, is a personal testimony, every lyric a seed for the soul. With "Cops Up," a fast-paced love tale that'll move any crowd, and "Wild Wild Wild," written by Wyclef Jean, Lyfe says: "The hooks are catchy, the beats are hot and the lyrics are dope, but my heart is definitely with the ballads.

"A lot of artists won't touch taboo subjects." On "It's Real,"Lyfe tackles the AIDS epidemic, letting people know that just when they think they have it bad, there's someone out there dealing with something much worse.

Lyfe shows that he can relate to his audience by discussing the things that everyone has experienced on one level or another. He has definitely evolved and is ready to invoke positive change in everyone else.

"I'm just trying to do something meaningful and classic; something that can be remade in 20 years."Doors open at 6 pm and the show starts at 7 pm.

Lyfe Jenningswill spin his particular kind of magic tonight at the Bermuda Music Festival 08.
