Zoo better than the existing one? All during the month of October the BAMZ is `Calling All Artists' to compete for prizes up to $1,000 by designing a logo.

The competition is open to students, adults, professionals and amateurs and the deadline for entries is Friday, November 3. Call 293-2727, ext. 137 for further information and an entry form or e-mail them at bzsmarketing/yibl.bm.

Meanwhile, volunteers, age 18 or older, are needed to help the Bermuda Zoological society's education team inspire and educate children to appreciate and care for our environment. October is a busy month of activities at the aquarium. Here are some of them: Saturday, October 7, 11 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.: The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo invites children to help complete the Discovery Room tile wall. Children from age five may paint favourite animals; under five may decorate with their own handprints. $20 per tile. To be held in Museum classroom. No registration needed.

Saturday, October 14, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo is open free to the public in conjunction with the Flatts Village Festival.

Come to see our new Caribbean exhibit and new "conservation cents'' Bathysphere. The Bathysphere is a permanent fund-raising receptacle at BAMZ, sponsored by Capital G. Money that goes into it will fund Bermuda Biodiversity projects. The first project to benefit is the Bermuda Amphibian research Project, looking at why toads are showing deformities and whether populations are declining. What affects toads, may also affect people! Saturday, October 21, 9a.m. to noon: Register at BAMZ Shorelands office for the Aquazoo camp that will be conducted on December 18, 19 and 20, 9a.m. to 3p.m. Aquazoo is for children P1 to P6 inclusive. Aquazoo campers participate in nature arts and crafts, animal games and animal science activities. $120 per child, membership required.

Also register at the Shorelands office for one-day workshops in November.

Workshops are scheduled for Tuesday, November 14 9a.m. to 3p.m. for children ages 5-8; Wednesday, November 15 9a.m. to 3p.m. for children 9-12. $40 per child, membership required.

Saturday, October 21, 2.30 to 4.30p.m.: The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo invites Children, ages five to seven to "Along Came a Spider'' where they can make a sweet `spider' snack and Halloween decoration, learning fun facts about these creatures. Register from October 7 at BAMZ front desk. $7.50 for members and $10 for non-members.

Saturday, October 28, 2.30 to 4.30p.m.: BAMZ invites children ages 8-11 to come to the `Bone Zone' to learn about animal skeketons, examining bones and watching a skeleton video. Register from October 7 at BAMZ front desk. $7.50 for members and $10 for non-members.

Ongoing at BAMZ Saturdays and Sundays only from October to March. Join the BAMZ animal feeding tour at 1.10p.m., included in the price of admission.

Daily. The Discovery Room at the BAMZ is open to children, featuring "Birds of a Feather'' and Saturdays and Sundays, 2-4p.m. Volunteers provide additional activities.

Every Friday at the BAMZ in the Discovery Room, 11.15 to 11.45 a.m., animal story time for 2-5 year olds with accompanying adult.

Every Saturday and Sunday, 2-4p.m. The Junior Reference Library at the BAMZ is open.
