snatch yesterday afternoon on Spanish Point Road, Pembroke.

The 73-year-old woman reported she was returning from Soares grocery store with a bag of groceries in one hand and her purse slung over her other arm, when she felt a hard nudge.

She turned and saw two men on a motorcycle.

The pillion passenger had grabbed the strap of her purse and was pulling it off her left arm.

She attempted to hold onto it, but the thief was too strong.

With bag in hand, the culprits made good their escape travelling east along Spanish Point Road.

The victim's screams alerted a neighbour who telephoned 911, and then proceeded to give chase in his car around the Spanish Point area.

He was joined by Police who pursued the pair through Sunset Pass, Cox's Hill and Bakery Lane, Pembroke.

A foot chase ensued, with one of the suspects, a 29-year-old Devonshire man, eventually being caught.

The purse contained a quantity of cash and other personal items.

The victim suffered a slight fracture to her left wrist, bruising and minor abrasions, was conveyed to KEMH, treated and released.
