the Co-ed facility yesterday.

Dimitri Steven Robinson, 17, of Barracks Close, St. George's, and William Eugene Usef Pitt, 18, also of Barracks Close, both admitted five burglaries at the St. George's Club.

They both also asked for 18 other offences to be taken into consideration when they appeared before the Supreme Court yesterday.

Prosecuting, Ms. Nita Grewall said the five burglaries took place between May and June this year when cash and property worth $22,548 was stolen. She said a substantial amount had been recovered.

Cash and property worth more than $12,000 was involved altogether in the offences the pair asked to be taken into consideration.

"They were employed. An addiction to marijuana caused them to commit these crimes,'' said Ms. Grewall.

Defending Pitt, Ms. Victoria Pearman said: "He lives with his family which was under tremendous financial pressure. He felt some frustration at not being in a position to help.'' And Mr. Tyrone Chin, for Robinson, said: "He is sorry for what he has done and has learnt his lesson. His twin brother worked at the St. George's Club and was suspended.'' He denied his client used marijuana.

Before being sentenced, Pitt said: "I am sorry for what I have done. I know I have hurt a lot of people and I don't want prison to be my career.'' Robinson, who has been in the Co-ed for the last six weeks awaiting sentencing, said: "My stay in the Co-ed has really opened my eyes and I want to qualify as a mechanic.'' Both the defendants, who pleaded guilty to the burglaries at an earlier court hearing, were sent to the Co-ed facility in St. George's with a recommendation, from Chief Justice the Hon. Mr. Justice Ward, that they stay for a minimum of two years.

He said: "These offences are serious and strike right at the tourist industry.''
