Pitt -- who slipped out of a court room exactly one week ago.

Pitt, 48, walked out of Magistrates' Court last Tuesday morning as he waited for his case to be heard before Senior Magistrate Will Francis.

He had been arrested the previous night and held in Hamilton Police station before being escorted to court by the Police on Tuesday morning.

However as he waited in court he walked unnoticed out of the room and has not been spotted since.

Police revealed that a three-man team, headed by Det. Con. Terrie Maxwell, had been set up to find Pitt, of Horseshoe Road, Southampton.

"We believe he's in the central parishes somewhere. We're sure he is still on the Island.

"We've heard the rumours about him being in Montreal, but we've checked with the airlines and there is no record of him being on a flight,'' said Det. Con.

He said the team was set up last Friday and was operating out of the Police incident room.

Det. Con. Maxwell said Pitt was not considered to be dangerous to the public and was due to face house breaking charges when he escaped.

And Det. Con. Maxwell appealed for members of the public to contact him on 299-4292 or call CrimeStoppers on 1-800-623-8477 if they saw Pitt.

Pitt is described as being light brown skinned, about 5-foot 9-inches tall, of slim build and wearing a brown sweater, red sweat pants and sandals when he escaped.
