Active with women's groups, Rev. Ramsey has varied background

A former nurse who is now a minister will be flying in from Texas to take part in next month's Bermuda Interdenominational Women's Conference.

Reverend Carolyn Ramsey, of San Antonio, Texas, is scheduled to be a facilitator at the four-day conference at the Sonesta Beach Hotel.

Prior to serving in the ministry, Rev. Ramsey -- who is presently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree -- was a nurse specialising in the care of Cancer and AIDS patients.

Ordained in 1993, Rev. Ramsey presently serves as an elder and an executive assistant to her pastor at new Creation Christian Fellowship.

She also serves as first Missions Director for her own church and was chairperson of the Transitional Housing Unit for San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries -- an interdenominational ministry that provides shelter, clothing and food for the homeless.

Rev. Ramsey is active with women's groups and cross denominational churches not only in the US but internationally, serving as the regional director of the Women's Fellowship for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship.

And she has ministered not only in Bermuda, but also in Haiti and Italy.
