Accreditation extended for TB Cancer and Health
The Canadian Association of Radiologists has given TB Cancer and Health a further three year term of accreditation ? the first facility outside of Canada to be granted the award.
TB Cancer and Health manager Maureen Simmons, said the accreditation is evidence of the association's effort to provide the highest quality of patient care.
The accreditation confirms high standards of mammography, imaging and quality care compliant with with standards set by the Canadian association.
"We are particularly proud of this accreditation as our mammography system is state of the art and together with our skilled technologists and staff it allows us to provide the best possible care for our patients," said Ms. Simmons.
The association conducts stringent evaluations to facilities and hospitals by board experts to based on staff, image quality, quality control procedures, and dosage control.
Currently 62 percent of mammography units in Canada have completed the process or are currently completing accreditation.
The new mammography unit was installed at TB Cancer and Health's resource centre at the Point Finger Road facility in November. The equipment is said to provide excellent image quality at the lowest dose possible.
