TB Cancer & Health launches new scholarship

The Bermuda TB Cancer & Health Association is investing in future health care by offering a scholarship in the field of Medical Radiation Sciences to young Bermudians.

The scholarship is designed to offer suitably qualified students the opportunity to study in the technical field of Mammography, Bone Density and Ultrasound and the use of this equipment.

The president of the Bermuda TB Cancer & Health Association, Judy Siddle Simons said the first official fund raising event for the scholarship is the upcoming Lou Rawls Valentine?s Gala on February 12 at the Fairmont Southampton.

All funds raised will go directly towards the start-up of the scholarship programme.

?The next step will be to formulate a Scholarship Fund Committee who will mandate to design and develop guidelines,? she said.

It is anticipated that the programme will be operational by September next year.

She added that the introduction of the scholarship programme would help ensure the legacy of excellence in health care education and prevention was upheld by the Bermuda TB Cancer & Health Association for generations to come.

?We see our youth as our most precious resource and investing in our young people through further education will enable them to contribute to and benefit from the association?s ongoing pledge to excellence in health care education and prevention,? she said.

Corporations and the general public are being asked to support the initiative and purchase tickets to the Gala from TB Cancer & Health. Please call 236-0947 for more information.
