Browne and Lacey crowned champions

Noah Browne and Susie Lacey claimed the men’s and ladies titles at the recent National Squash Racquets Association’s Red Hot Summer Classic.Browne won the championship after his professional rival, Micah Franklin, retired from the match with Browne up 6-11, 11-9, 11-2.Browne saw off Tommy Sherratt 11-3, 11-3, 11-8 in the semi-finals, and Franklin took four sets to beat Kristian Muldoon 12-10, 7-11, 11-2, 11-4.Lacey lifted her title with a straight sets, 11-0, 11-6, 11-6 win over Denise Kyme.The champion defeated Emma Keane 15-13, 11-7, 11-6 in her semi-final match, while Kyme beat Meagan Jackson 11-4, 11-9, 11-5.In the men’s ‘B’ consolation final, Gary Levon defeated Edwin Wickham 11-3, 11-9, 7-11, 12-10, 11-6, while the men’s ‘B’ final went to Podge Browne after his 11-4, 11-8, 11-7 triumph over Greg Fitzgerald.Tiye Williams beat Jane Chapman 12-10, 11-5, 4-11, 11-4 in the ladies ‘A’ consolation final. and Nick Brewer won the men’s ‘A’ first round plate final with an 11-7, 8-11, 11-8, 13-11 victory over Mark Haugen.Andrew Stout beat Korin Knights 11-7, 11-8, 11-7 in the men’s ‘A’ consolation finals.
