would-be robbers realised he had no money.

Police said the victim was walking on Parsons Road in Pembroke, near Fenton's Drive, around 1.p.m. on Wednesday when five men approached him and demanded money.

When the men realised that he had nothing to steal one of them hit him over the head with a rod.

The man sustained a cut as a result of the blow and required hospital treatment. But he was not seriously injured.

Police inquiries into the incident were continuing.

He was later interviewed and then released into the custody of his mother.

Police said the victim was riding her bike along Barry Road, St. George's, on Tuesday at 5.30 p.m. when two black males on another cycle rode up alongside her and removed the handbag from her basket. The men rode off at a high speed on a red bike.

The vehicle was pursued and stopped, but when the rider became upset he attempted to ride away.

However, P.c. Venning said, the Police officer prevented him from doing so.

The man then punched the officer and was arrested.

CYCLE RIDER SUFFERS CUTS IN ROAD ACCIDENT AC Cycle rider suffers cuts in road accident A 23-year-old cycle rider sustained cuts and abrasions to her arms and legs as a result of a three-vehicle accident near Brighton Hill, Devonshire.

Police said the accident occurred around 8.15 p.m. on Wednesday when a Hyundai car, turning right onto Watlington Road, Devonshire, collided with a Suzuki motorcycle.

The impact caused the motorcycle to bounce off the car and collide with a second car, a Volkswagon, which was travelling on Brighton Hill Road.

Police said damage was caused to all three of the vehicles. However, the female cycle rider was not seriously hurt.

MARINE POLICE HELP CREWMEN ON PLEASURE BOAT RES POL Marine Police help crewmen on pleasure boat Marine Police assisted a 25-foot pleasure boat which took on water yesterday.

A Harbour Radio spokesman said two crew members on the boat sent out a distress signal at 4.01 a.m. and reported it was taking on water near Spanish Point.

Marine Police responded to the call and guided the boat to Dockyard at 5.a.m.

No one was hurt.

The Police Marine section will also be holding exercises at Morgan's Point, Southampton involving distress flares on July 26 and 28.

Members of the public who live in the area are asked not to be alarmed if they see flares.

The exercises will be held around 3 p.m. on both days.

The mishap occurred at 5:45 p.m. near Paddock Lane when the rider of an auxiliary bike apparently lost control of the vehicle and collided with a utility pole.

The injured woman was travelling as pillion passenger at time, the driver of the motorbike was unhurt.
