they appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Jermaine Rumley, 20, of Spring Benny Road, Sandys Parish, pleaded guilty to breeding and keeping more than five dogs without a licence.

And 28-year-old Joseph Moniz of Granaway Heights, Southampton also pleaded guilty to keeping more than two dogs without permission and having a dog without a valid licence.

Crown counsel Cindy Clarke said officers went to Rumley's house on May 1, but he was not present. Officers then went to Moniz' house and found three adult dogs, one female puppy, and one bitch with five puppies.

Some of the dogs were in need of medical attention and were taken to Ettrick Animal Hospital.

"This illegal breeding of dogs has got to stop. We don't want to be overrun with dogs,'' said Magistrate Will Francis.

He fined both men $200 apiece for each charge for a total of $400 each. He also ordered they compensate the animal hospital for treatment and board.

VISITOR FINED FOR DRUGS TRAFFICKING CTS Visitor fined for drugs trafficking An American business traveller yesterday found that Bermuda does not consider drug trafficking business as usual when he was fined $2,650 in Magistrates' Court.

William Edwards Daly, 47, of Las Vegas, Nevada, pleaded guilty to importing 23.33 grams of cannabis and possessing cigarette papers intended for drug use.

Crown counsel Cindy Clarke said Daly arrived at the Bermuda International Airport at 8.55 p.m. on May 29 and Police sniffer dogs alerted officers' suspicions.

During questioning ,Daly admitted to having drugs in his underwear and officers found a clear plastic bag containing 22.66 grams of cannabis, rolling papers and a homemade cigarette with .67 grams of the drug.

Daly's total stash had a Bermuda street value of $1,150.

"In some places this is taken very seriously and this is one of those places,'' Magistrate Will Francis told Daly before fining him $2,500 for importation and $150 for possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

MAN INJURED IN BIKE ACCIDENT CTS AC Man injured in bike accident An early morning cycle accident left a Warwick man being treated in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and facing an appearance in Magistrates' Court.

At about 2 a.m. yesterday, Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on South Shore in Warwick and found the 31-year-old man there.

A Police spokesman said the man apparently lost control of his cycle while travelling west near the Esso service station and suffered a broken cheekbone, facial cuts and abrasions to both hands and arms.

He was taken to the hospital where he received treatment for his injuries and was later ticketed for driving without a licence and driving without due care and attention.
