Progressive Labour Party officials have booked a return charter flight from Atlanta to Bermuda so college students can vote in the General Election.

Party spokesman Corey Butterfield confirmed last night that anyone interested in catching the flight can call VOTE-PLP, or 8683-757, for more details.

The flight leaves Atlanta on the morning of November 8, returning from Bermuda on November 11, two days after polling day.

Seats can be booked for $525.

Party officials opted to charter the flight so university students, traditionally PLP supporters, will not have to miss the election.

But PLP chiefs are ready to call off a similar plan to book a charter from Halifax, Nova Scotia, because of organisational difficulties.

EDNESS TO RETURN TO CAMPAIGN TRAIL PTL Edness to return to campaign trail Veteran UBP MP Quinton Edness could be back on the campaign trail by early next week.

The Warwick West candidate, who flew to the US for treatment on a bad back earlier this week, is expected to be back in Bermuda by this weekend.

And running mate Dr. Yvette Swan is hoping he will be back with her, in some capacity, soon after.

"He called me last night, they started treatment today and we are hoping he will be back with us soon and then return for more treatment after the election,'' she said.

Mr. Edness had to fly to Boston for treatment on his back after a spinal injury made walking difficult. But Dr. Swan said she hoped he would be able to help by making phone calls even if he couldn't hit the campaign trail.

Meanwhile, Dr. Swan, a Senator in the last Parliament, has been campaigning with the help of Warwick West constituents.

On Monday, Mr. Edness' proposer and seconder made sure his nomination papers were lodged for the election.

BROWNE EVANS HOME FAILS TO SELL RE Browne Evans home fails to sell A house repossessed from PLP Devonshire North General Election candidate Lois Browne Evans was put up for auction last Thursday.

But the Devonshire home failed to reach its reserve price and was withdrawn from sale.

Now it will be marketed and shown to potential buyers by the selling agents, Leonard O. Gibbons, until a buyer can be found.

The two-bedroom house with games room and studio apartment, located on North Shore Road, was grabbed by mortgage firm Gibbons Deposit Company earlier this year.

After the house was repossessed, Mrs. Browne Evans, a former leader of the PLP and the MP for Devonshire North since 1963, said she had bought it and renovated it as a business venture -- but was unable to get the $500,000 asking price.

She added then that market conditions were not what they had been in former years -- and vowed not to speculate on property again.
