Fit-again Walker in contention
Powerful striker Tayekhi Walker could be in line for his PDL debut when Bermuda Hogges take on Ironbound Express at BAA Field tonight.
Injury has prevented Walker from featuring so far this season but the Boulevard skipper has been included in the squad for this week's double-header against high-flying Express.
Another player set for his first outing of the campaign is experienced defender Darius Cox who re-signed for the Hogges earlier this month.
Technical director Derek Broadley said both players possessed a physical presence which could help counteract the brute force of the Express,
"For us we see Tayehki as a forward, he's big, powerful and strong as well as being technically good," said Broadley.
"He fits the mould especially against Ironbound Express who are bigger and older than us, and so having a bit more experience around can help us."
Winger Angelo Simmons (ankle) and number one goalkeeper Freddy Hall (hand) should also be back for the Hogges after recovering from their respective injuries.
"I wasn't at training last night but I think Angelo will be on the verge," said Broadley. "Freddy Hall has been training and both those players could also give us a big boost."
Broadley admitted even two draws from their double-header against Express would be represent a pleasing return for the Hogges.
"Two draws would be okay and if we could grab a win then great," he said.
"Express have beaten leaders Reading United and are the only team to have brushed us aside this season."
Express have made a strong start to the season and lie in second place in the league table after winning six out of nine games.
The last meeting between the two teams in New Jersey saw Express hammer the Hogges 5-0.
