Police issue speed warning after 60 accidents in seven days

Motorists are being urged to slow down after more than 60 accidents were reported in a seven-day span this month.

Between July 13 and July 20, Police attended 23 collisions involving injury and 49 with damage only.

During the course of the week four people, were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. A Police spokesman said: "The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the Island's roads. Additionally, we urge those travelling in cars to use their seat belts at all times and make sure any children travelling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those travelling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane."

Twenty vehicles, including a small boat, were taken without the owners' consent that week. Four have been recovered. The public is encouraging people to lock their vehicles.
