VIP to reveal 2005 plan at awards ceremony

More than 800 people will be spending their Saturday evening in style at the Belco Visitor Industry Partnership Excellence Awards at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel this weekend.

A slew of new plans for the VIP in 2005 are expected to be announced at the event, starting the year off on a high note. "We are on the eve of the biggest hospitality and tourism awards on the Island," VIP executive director Stacey Evans said. "What an exciting night it will be."

She was giving no hints, however, adding that the revelation of VIP's 2005 plan will have to wait until Saturday night.

The VIP met with Government this week about the continued partnership between the two, she said, and the VIP executive committee are currently assessing those meetings. Though she declined to reveal more yesterday, historically the VIP and the Department of Tourism have worked together on most if not all VIP initiatives.

The Excellence Awards will kick off at 6 p.m.
