Essential tools used in the caring of animals by the Bermuda Feline Assistance Bureau (BFAB) have been stolen from a BFAB property on Tudor Road in Southampton, to the horror of BFAB and SPCA volunteers.

The theft was discovered on Monday. Two large cages, feeding bowls, a basket, bedding, carriers, and other accessories - all the property of the SPCA, which had leant them to BFAB - were taken in the raid.

And BFAB is not only worried about the theft itself.

"There was a sick cat inside that pen," said Lyn Vaughan of BFAB.

"We are concerned the pen does not get misused as we don't want other animals to get sick."

Ms Vaughan said those with legitimate reasons for being on the property were called first to ensure they had not removed the cages. Then, she said, she called the Police.

"This was obviously a very mean, despicable person(s) who stole these items," said SPCA volunteer Gill Clifton.

"However I sincerely hope... you will find it possible to return at least the cages to the SPCA urgently." The cages are about four feet by four feet by four feet.

"I also ask that should any member of the public see what they believe to be these cages, please, please, contact the SPCA immediately," said Ms Clifton.
