drug-related charges after being arrested by Police in a hotel room.

Stoneham, of Southampton, was arrested on Saturday night -- a few hours before he was due to defend his Esso Around the Island Powerboat Race title.

He was arrested along with two other men and one woman in a hotel in a combined operation by ten Police, Narcotics and Customs officers. Stoneham did not take part in the race on Sunday.

Chief Insp. Norrell Hull, who was in charge of the operation, said substances were seized which were being analysed and a large amount of cash was also found. He refused to name the hotel, but said it was not in any way involved.

It is expected that Stoneham and the other three people will appear in court in the next few days.
