Desmet gets new role

PartnerRe Ltd. has appointed Laurie A. Desmet Chief Accounting Officer for the Group.

In her new role, Ms Desmet is responsible for PartnerRe's accounting policy, financial reporting and controls, planning and budgeting. She will also manage the accounting teams in the global reinsurer's Bermuda headquarters.

Ms Desmet has 20 years' experience in accounting and financial management, including ten years in the reinsurance industry.

Prior to joining PartnerRe, she was employed by Converium, where she most recently held the position of SVP, Chief Accounting Officer and Deputy to the Group CFO. During her time with Converium, Ms Desmet also held the positions of Group Treasurer and Controller. Ms Desmet was previously employed as a Senior Manager by Ernst & Young.
